COATS

The Most Important Layer of the Season

Now that the days are getting shorter and we've consistently had the heat on, it's time to talk COATS. Plus we all woke to our first snow of the season this morning (it came early this year!) and it's freezing out there! Be prepared for the cold (wind, rain, snow, blizzard - you name it!) with our favorite coats from Spiewak. Believe me, these are not your average winter coats that you'll be sick of before December even ends. With a Spiewak coat in your closet, you'll be welcoming the cold-weather season (okay, maybe that's a stretch...) for years & years to come!

Spruce up your winter style with 3 brilliant coats that truly work for all body types:

Liscome Bay Coat

As warm as it is stylish, this menswear-inspired coat is a quintessential wardrobe staple for every east coast gal. The olive brown color fully embraces the popular military trend and would look great paired with a slouchy cream-colored hat & gloves. And, it's tall folded collar is the best we've seen from anyone. Seriously, this coat is calling my name.

Ranger Fishtail Parka

Parkas. I would argue that they're the most functional of all coats with their sporty, yet classic look. Our top pick? Spiewak's Ranger Fishtail Parka - specifically designed to protect you from the elements with warm polyfill lining, a removable hood and a weather-resistant dry wax cotton shell. Combine that with a cinch-able waist, decorative buttons at the shoulders & cuffs, and slight high-low hem and you'll want to wear it everyday (and everywhere!). In our opinion, the classic hooded parka has never looked better.

Wool McElroy Coat

Fur-trim around the hood and toggle buttons? Apparently you can have it all. One of Spiewak's best-sellers (and ours too!) is the Wool McElroy Coat - and this season, it's clean lines & easy fit makes this coat even more appealing. It's heavy wool shell & thinsulate lining are definitely added bonuses when it comes to battling our winters here in Maine. Give it a try - you'll be glad you did.

And there you have it - our top outerwear picks of the season. Stop by our stores for an even larger selection of coats from Spiewak... OR shop some of our styles online at our Pop-Up Shop (with FREE shipping)!

Jessica Hallet, a local blogger & model, was in our Portland store today modeling our coats for an upcoming feature in Maine Women Magazine. She tried on a bunch of our Spiewak coats (shop them here!), along with this gorgeous cape coat from The Portland Collection by Pendleton. We absolutely love the iconic pattern & soft neutrals on her.

Thanks in advance to Jessica for stopping by Bliss & featuring our coats! We can't wait to see the article when it come out.

Fall 2012 Buying Trip

Day 2 Recap

Day 2 of our buying trip started much like every other day - with coffee!  We stumbled upon a quaint little cafe a few blocks from the show that kind of reminded us of Bard Coffee (only not quite as good, of course!), and we went there every morning for the rest of our trip.  With caffeine in our system, we headed towards the Javits Center for our first day at Coterie...

Nashelle

Our first stop was Nashelle’s booth, and I can’t think of a better way we could have started the show.  Her jewelry is so unique; every piece is handmade and it truly shows in her fine details & craftsmanship.  Everything looked stunning as usual, but there were a couple standouts.  The first one was her mini collection - basically she made some of her best-sellers in a smaller size (something I really appreciate since I can’t wear heavy, large earrings all day).  Practical and still super stylish - it’s a win-win combination!  The other standout was Nashelle’s charm necklaces.  With a wide variety of charms, there was something there for everyone.  (Stay tuned - there’s talk about having a charm necklace trunk show in our stores sometime soon!)

Butter by Nadia

If you’ve ever been in our stores, you’ve seen our wrap dresses by Butter.  They are a crowd favorite... and for good reason.  Their design, fabric and overall look sets them apart, and you will continue to see this for fall.  Color blocking was a big theme at their booth, along with mid-length and maxi-length skirts.  We’re excited about the new three-quarter length wrap dresses as well - it’s the perfect dress for any occasion!  You’ll want to wear it everyday (and you can!).
