Our First Ever How-To Video Shoot

This past Friday was a big day for us here at Bliss – we spent the day filming our first ever "how-to" video shoot! It was a fun day full of wrap dresses, scarves... and plenty of laughs. We can't wait to share our tips on wrapping your favorite Butter by Nadia wrap dress or new Chan Luu scarf. And we plan on making even more videos: how-to wear the denim on denim trend, how-to transition your look from day to night, how-to wear flare jeans, and much more.  If you have any ideas for us, please share! This will be an ongoing project for us and it's something we hope will benefit our customers greatly!

In case you aren't following us on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, here's a few photos from the day that you may have missed.  And remember to stay tuned, we'll be posting our videos soon!

Our Holiday Wish Lists

What we're coveting this year!

With Christmas less than a week away, it’s starting to feel like crunch time. Don’t stress just yet if you’re still shopping - you’ve still got some time & we’re here to help. Last year the Bliss gals shared their gift ideas for their family & friends. This year to switch it up a bit, I’ve asked them to pick just one item that’s on their wish list. Hopefully our picks will help while you’re making those last-minute gift purchases.

Here are some gift ideas that she's guaranteed to love:

Shop Maine Blog

Another great write-up about Bliss!

Maine Magazine launched a new style blog yesterday that highlights local boutiques & their standout pieces for the season. And the writer? Mara from MainelyMara - our favorite destination for local deals! Lucky for us (and such an honor!), Mara chose to write her very first blog about us! Our large selection of cozy, cashmere sweaters, Epice scarves and Frye boots took the spotlight in her write-up of fall trends. Along with our denim wall ("yes, an entire wall"), adorable Tiny TOMS and Butter by Nadia's wrap dresses (always a fan favorite!).

Click here to read the article... and be sure to follow the blog too! Trust me, Mara has some seriously good insight when it comes to style & trends. Oh, and be sure to stop by to see Mara's seasonal picks firsthand - you won't be disappointed.

Our Spring 2013 Buying Trip

Vintage denim, pastel colors & stripes - it’s going to be a great spring!

As many of you know from all our instagram-ing, facebook-ing and tweeting, we were in NYC two weeks ago for Coterie - one of the fashion world’s largest (& most exciting!) trade shows. And even though the city was buzzing with all things fall, it was clear that the buyers were focused on spring (and for good reason)! By the looks of it, spring is stacking up to be everything we could ever want... the return of authentic denim washes in new modern cuts, carefree flowy tops & an abundance of dresses.

Okay, so maybe you’re not ready to be planning your spring wardrobe just yet (after all, fall has only just begun!), but there’s no harm in getting a sneak peek at what you’ll see in our stores come March. Keep reading... this is going to be fun!

Lily Aldridge for Velvet

She’s been the face & body of Velvet since 2004... and now she’s launching a limited-edition collaboration with them! Lily Aldridge is a combination of the beautiful girl next door and rock-and-roll supermodel (with a closet to die for!), and this spring she’s sharing her covetable style with us. Her collection of tees, dresses & sweaters will easily pair back to all your favorite wardrobe basics. Oh, and did I mention the most perfect military-inspired lightweight jacket? And to make this line even sweeter, Lily personally named every style after a close friend or family member!

MiH Jeans

Denim is going back to the basics for spring. Vintage-looking, distressed washes will be a must, so you can expect plenty of lighter washes in our stores once the warmer weather hits. In addition to the return of authentic denim, we’re bringing in a new denim line that we’re oh-so excited about - MiH Jeans! Founded in London in 1969, MiH Jeans has a history of being “the original British jeans brand” and the best-fitting jeans around. Some things we love about them: they’ve always been a family-run company, their silhouettes are ultra slimming, and their details (buttons, pockets, etc.) are simply beautiful.

Fall 2012 Buying Trip

Day 2 Recap

Day 2 of our buying trip started much like every other day - with coffee!  We stumbled upon a quaint little cafe a few blocks from the show that kind of reminded us of Bard Coffee (only not quite as good, of course!), and we went there every morning for the rest of our trip.  With caffeine in our system, we headed towards the Javits Center for our first day at Coterie...

Nashelle

Our first stop was Nashelle’s booth, and I can’t think of a better way we could have started the show.  Her jewelry is so unique; every piece is handmade and it truly shows in her fine details & craftsmanship.  Everything looked stunning as usual, but there were a couple standouts.  The first one was her mini collection - basically she made some of her best-sellers in a smaller size (something I really appreciate since I can’t wear heavy, large earrings all day).  Practical and still super stylish - it’s a win-win combination!  The other standout was Nashelle’s charm necklaces.  With a wide variety of charms, there was something there for everyone.  (Stay tuned - there’s talk about having a charm necklace trunk show in our stores sometime soon!)

Butter by Nadia

If you’ve ever been in our stores, you’ve seen our wrap dresses by Butter.  They are a crowd favorite... and for good reason.  Their design, fabric and overall look sets them apart, and you will continue to see this for fall.  Color blocking was a big theme at their booth, along with mid-length and maxi-length skirts.  We’re excited about the new three-quarter length wrap dresses as well - it’s the perfect dress for any occasion!  You’ll want to wear it everyday (and you can!).
